The solution for fast and easy synchronization of two folders and the backup of your highly important data is here! SyncFolder can make your live easier, because it helps you with many common tasks and reduces the time for these tasks dramatically:

  • Update another computer
  • Get newest files
  • Synchronize your notebook before or after a journey, daily etc.
  • Update fileservers, webservers, etc. (also update more than one machine by grouping the single projects withthe group-editor)
  • Backup your important data with only 2 mouseclicks
  • Synchronize your computer with other computers to have the same version of files on different comouters
  • ...

SyncFolder can synchronize data in many different ways:

Source          Target Windows path* FTP-connection Zip-file
Windows path(s)*
FTP-connection

(files are stored on the executing machine and then uploaded to the target)

(files are downloaded and stored locally temporary and then packed to zip)

* "Windows path" in SyncFolder are not only local drives, but also:

  • connected network drives (i.e. a drive H:\ connected to a folder on a file-server "\\fileserver1\files\docs\backup\")
  • network-path: you can enter any network-path directly in UNC-notation like "\\fileserver1\files\docs\backup\"
  • CD- or DVD-drives: use any accessible path as source of the synchronization or as target of the synchronization (i.e. a RAM-drive to store your backups)
  • removable media: any USB-stick, external hard drive, smart card reader, ... can be used as source or target

Some highlights of the programs:

  • full synchronization of two folders (optional incl. sub-folders)
  • copy files from one folder or more folder to a destination folder (one-way-copy)
  • only synchronize files with archive-attribute set (only sync files edited sibce last execution)
  • reset archive-attribute of a file when file was backed up
  • overwrite all files in destination (make sure that all files are the same than in the source(s))
  • move files from one folder to another
  • backup files to zip-archive:
    - append number to filename if file already exists
    - choose compression-level
    - include current date in zip-filename
    - ....
  • define filters for files to include and files to exclude from the synchronization (i.e. exclude all files "*.tmp")
  • define date for file's last change date to be included in the synchronization (so only newer files are copied, moved, zipped)
  • use placeholders for the cuurent date in any folders or filenames (i.e. set target-zip-filename to "backup_%Y%M%D.zip" and SyncFolder will backup the files to "backup_20041112.zip")
  • synchronize any ftp-server with any other folder
  • adjustable tolerance for date comparisons (so no problems with summer time on servers or Unix computers)
  • ....

Only newer files are transferred from the source to the destination (and back in "full synchronization") to minimize the traffic of the synchronization.

All settings can be saved in a "project file" for later use. This project file can be executed directly via right mouse button from your Windows Explorer. Backup of important data has never been so easy!

Every folder gets an extra contaxt menu item in your Windows Explorer:

Using this menu item opens a new synchronization project with this folder as source path. This way you can synchronize a folder quick and easily without opening SyncFolder first and then browse for a folder.

The program has many settings where you can decide, which properties (name, date, archive-attribute, ...)a file must have to be copied/moved/deleted.

A mail can be automatically send after the synchronization. This mail has the detailed log of every step made attached, if you wish.

You can set filters which files are included and excluded in the synchronization. An easy-to-use filter-editor helps you to build filter-settings:

You can even let the program keep two folders synchronised so that they have the same content after synchronisation. It does not matter if the source and/or target folder is a local folder, a folder somewhere in your local network or a folder on a ftp server.

FTP connection parameters can be set when you select an FTP folder as source or target:

Another very helpful feature of the program is the possibility to use placeholders for the current date in all filenames and folders:

When this example from the left screenshot is now executed (scheduled) daily, every day a new backup-file is created with the backup-data from that date:

Every saved project can be scheduled to be executed at a specific time or periodically:

You have very flexible settings available to schedule a project. For example, you can schedule a synchronization "every monday, wednesday, saturday at 4:00 am".
Your computer can even wake up from standby to execute this SyncFolder-project!*

With the included Group-editor, it's possible to group single project files into one large project group. When executing this group, all included projects are executed in the selected sort order:

The Group-editor can also perform other tasks than just executing single project files:

  • Get webpage and save tp local file
  • Execute any program (with parameters)
  • Show a message

The Group-editor can also save his groups into a single file for later use.

The program has a very easy setup-routine, a very easy-to-read helpfile and a clean uninstall-routine. You can download a trial-version of the program to test every single featurein detail for 30 days here.

 * newer computer required that supports "Resume from standby". Please ask your computer's manufacturer if your pc supports this feature.
